Global Electrification
It is undeniable that there has been a mass increase in the numbers of electric vehicles on our roads, as a result the demand for specific EV part remanufacturing is growing. ACTRONICS is fully engaged in the development of remanufacturing solutions for electric vehicles.
Our role the future of EV development
Global electrification is a key step in moving towards a sustainable future, at ACTRONICS we see our expanding range of remanufacturing solutions as a valuable contribution to this sustainable transition. By developing and optimising innovative remanufacturing technologies, we directly help to extend the life of EV components and reduce their impact on our precious environmental resources.
The shift to EVs is a rapid one, and although cars with internal combustion engines will remain on our roads for many years to come, vehicles with some form of electric power plant will become the majority. Whilst traditional components like ABS and ESP remain stable, other components such as the ECU and instrument panels are substantially different. For instance, the ECU will eventually give way to onboard chargers and, in the future all instrument panels will likely be completely digital.
Electric Vehicle Remanufacturing innovations
The remanufacturing often operates a few steps behind that of the new part development cycle, after all, new parts rarely break down immediately. This also applies to EV parts, although EVs have been part of our road network for several years, the first overhaul of an EV component at ACTRONICS took place in 2023 when we successfully remanufactured an Onboard Charger for an Audi Q7.
Developments in EV components are moving fast! At ACTRONICS, we are actively looking for new innovations and opportunities, not only relying on the industry itself, but also pushing the barrier without own test cars as well.
Our focus is on two specific EV product lines:
The Onboard Charger (OBC)
We’re continuously optimising our OBC remanufacturing solutions. We are currently developing and analysing a charger from within the Stellantis Group. We use the insights learned to improve our processes whilst also designing universal components for OBCs.
The Inverter and DC-DC converter
Inverter and DC-DC converters play a crucial role in energy conversion within EVs. We see these as one dedicated product line, as they are usually integrated into one unit. We perform in-depth analysis and testing to identify and improve weak points.
We also examine and overhaul DC-DC converters to ensure that they continue to function efficiently even after years of use. Our techniques result in improvements to be electronic and mechanical components resulting in a high performance and reliable solution.
